A techbio definition

A particular shift in modern biotechnology is a shift to tech-first biotechs. These companies have many differences with traditional biotechs. They tend to be platform companies, integrate biology and data seamlessly and be scale-driven by design.

This is possible because:

  1. Biology is getting digitized.
  2. Computation and machine learning have advanced.
  3. We are moving from scientists pipetting in a lab, to high throughput automation at scale.

The ecosystem is thriving and will revolutionise healthcare, the chemical industry and the world as we know it. Here are some examples of ecosystem techbio players.
